       巧克力是不少运动员喜爱吃的食物,因为它味美可口,又有一定的营养,所以深受运动员的青睐。但是我们发现在运动实践中不少运动员食巧克力过多,有的甚至在赛前大量进食巧克力,这样不仅起不到补充营养的作用,反而对运动和身体会造成不良影响。
巧克力的成分有40~50% 是脂肪,30~40%为粮分,可可粉占10%,其它还有少量的香料和奶粉。其特点就是含脂肪及糖分较高,蛋白质很少,运动员经常过多地食用只能是弊多于利。
  由于巧克力含脂肪多,大量进食,脂肪会在体内堆积,引起肥胖,同时会增加心脏负担,减低运动能力 ,这对于耐力运动员来说更为不利,另外过多地摄入脂肪,还易患动脉硬化、高血压、冠心病、胆石症等一系列疾病。巧克力含糖多,通过新陈代谢使吸收到体贴内的糖分变为脂肪在体内贮藏起来,体内大量脂肪的堆积会消耗对于运动员来说十分宝贵的氧气,从而会使运动能力下降。同时由于巧克力含蛋白质少,不利于青少年运动员的生长发育、吃多了还会影响蛋白质、矿物质、维生素的吸收,显然是对健康不利的。另外,巧克力中的可可粉具有兴奋作用,吃多了会引起运动员过度兴奋,影响睡眠和休息,不利于运动。
因此 ,运动员吃巧克力一定要适量。

I don't think anyone in their right mind should be eating chocolate before you do anything physical, it will lead to fatigue much sooner.  When you eat chocolate it's a simple sugar, it's absorbed quickly into your bloodstream.  Then what'll happen is you'll release insulin and lower your blood sugar levels, and contracting muscles also lower blood sugar so the combination of this will lower blood sugar very quickly which will lead to early fatigue.

 depends on how much chocolate you took, a bar is ok... the reason that you can eat a certain amount of chocolate before a game is that, carbohydrates is the easiest available energy for a game.. glucose is a form of carbohydrates and yes insulin will be produced so that it would be broken down to be used by the body, nothing wrong with that its a normal body process.. it does not necessarily mean you'll get fatigued much easily if you take only a bar.. the glucose in the blood is there in order for your body to take extra energy.. though if im asked what kid of chocolate i will take, id get a bar of dark chocolate..
if using your arguement, the body itself still releases insulin even if you dont eat chocolate while you play or exercise this is in order for your body to get the glucose stored in the liver in the form of glycogen broken down again to glucose.. it is normal for the body to do that.. granting you only ate a bar of chocolate (not those large bars) you will not get fatigued immediately it provides you with additional energy rather because you have extra glucose to burn...
being non active is a different story though, if you dont do enough physical work and eat a lot of sugars you will feel sleepy due to the influx of glucose in the blood and the body not doing anything to burn it

on the contrary, contracting skeletal muscles need the glucose to be broken down by insulin in order for them to get extra energy.. actually being a type 2 diabetic myself ill tell you the exact mechanism of it. exercise is used to lower blood sugar levels simply because increased physical activity increases the need of more body fuels. having increased blood glucose levels in diabetic patients necessitates the need to use the glucose in the blood or face consequences like increasing blood viscosity therefore leading to poor circulation and increasing blood pressure.. unless you have DKA (diabetic ketoacidosis) which will make your body break down protein and fatty acids due to lack of glucose, in this it is not true.. you don't have DKA and eating a small bar of dark chocolate (i never said about eating candies nor any other junk food will help) will not lead to
hypoglycemia if you eat that small bar before a game. your statement is highly inaccurate and by the way there is an increase in glucose during any demanding activity because your body needs glucose, eating a small bar of chocolate does not harm your body, it helps it a little bit. maybe you have not also considered that you felt drained and tired after a great game because you have lost a lot of fluids and electrolytes? don't you know that dehydration is common after a rigorous game because mainly your potassium and sodium electrolytes went out of your body thats why you feel tired? im sorry to say this but your medical physiology is a bit inaccurate
