在经过了2013年的调整后，丁宁在训练中找回了不错的状态。但在1月份进行的第一阶段“直通东京”比赛时，因为遭遇了发烧等身体不适的影响，她的发挥不甚理想。而此次重回镇江，由于赛前就知道处在“死亡之组”A组中，要想轻松地以头名晋级半决赛很难，所以丁宁在心态上就是把每场都看作强强对抗。
